A Shore Tradition returns to Seaview, A Dolce Hotel, Oct. 1-4, 2020
Galloway, NJ (Sept. 27, 2020) – Defending champion Lexi Thompson joins a stacked field in the 2020 ShopRite LPGA Classic Presented by Acer, organizers announced today. She will be joined in the field by eight of the top ten players on the money list – as well as past tournament champions Annie Park, IK Kim, Anna Nordqvist, Stacy Lewis, Brittany Lincicome and Cristie Kerr – and a host of the biggest names in the LPGA.
“We’re honored to once again attract the best players in the game to South Jersey,” said Tournament Director Bill Hansen. “While our fans won’t be able to gather in person to witness the crowning of our next champion, we’re excited to expand from three to four rounds and offer our largest-ever broadcast window for our fans at home.”
In addition to 80 of the top 100 players on the money list, this year’s field will feature fan favorites such as Brooke Henderson, Nelly and Jessica Korda, Inbee Park and Morgan Pressel. The field will also include a group of promising young stars such as Muni He, Jennifer Kupcho and Maria Fassi.
Tournament organizers previously announced that Hinako Shibuno, Natalie Gulbis, Brynn Walker and Megha Ganne have accepted sponsor exemptions.
Shibuno, a native of Japan, is the 2019 AIG Women’s Open champion. Gulbis, a longtime fan favorite and supporter of the event who is retiring after this season, will compete in her 15th and final ShopRite LPGA Classic.
Walker and Ganne, both decorated junior players, will compete as amateurs in an event that has helped launch the careers of future stars like Lexi Thompson, Paula Creamer and Brooke Henderson. Kupcho and Fassi both made their professional debuts at last year’s tournament.
The ShopRite LPGA Classic Presented by Acer will be held Oct. 1-4, 2020. The 120-player field will compete over four rounds for a $1.3 million purse on the Bay Course at Seaview, A Dolce Hotel. All four rounds will be televised on Golf Channel.
As previously announced, due to the ongoing heath crisis the tournament will be played without fans in attendance.
