Defending champion Annie Park has officially committed to play in the 2019 ShopRite LPGA Classic Presented by Acer, organizers announced today. She will be joined in the field by past tournament champions Anna Nordqvist, Stacy Lewis, and Karrie Webb, as well as a host of some of the biggest names in the LPGA.
“We’re extremely proud of the caliber of our past champions and we’re always excited to welcome them back to our community,” said Tim Erensen, executive director of the ShopRite LPGA Classic Presented by Acer. “We look forward to crowning a new champion this June as we continue to showcase these amazing athletes to our fans and partners in South Jersey.”
In addition to the past champions, this year’s field will also feature fan favorites such as Michelle Wie, Lexi Thompson, Brooke Henderson, Morgan Pressel, Paula Creamer, Christina Kim and Cheyenne Woods, as well as New Jersey native Marina Alex.
The field will also include a group of promising rookies such as Muni He, Klara Spilkova and Jeongeun Lee6, who has yet to finish worse than sixteenth in her first seven events and lost in a playoff this past weekend at the LPGA Mediheal Championship.
Tournament organizers also announced that Natalie Gulbis has accepted a sponsor exemption for the second straight year. Gulbis is one of the most popular players on tour and has been a proud supporter of the tournament and its many charitable efforts.
Also accepting a sponsor exemption is Virginia Elena Carta, a senior at Duke University and a native of Milan, Italy. Elena Carta is a past NCAA individual champion and National Player of the Year, as well as a runner-up in the U.S. Women’s Amateur.
The ShopRite LPGA Classic Presented by Acer will be held June 3-9, 2019. The 144-player field will compete over three rounds for a $1.75 million purse at Seaview in Galloway, New Jersey. The tournament will be televised live on Golf Channel.
